If nutritional content was listed in the form of measuring spoons instead of grams, would your food purchases change?On nutrition labels, I always find it interesting that nutrition labels post information in grams. Do you have any understanding of grams?According to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, gram is defined as a metric unit of mass equal to ¹/₁₀₀₀ kilogram and nearly equal to the mass of one cubic centimeter of water at its maximum density.In the USA, we use pounds and ounces versus kilograms and grams. There are exceptions, healthcare is the biggest exception that comes to mind.As you may have guessed, I’m detailing the mystery behind grams, specifically, added sugar.This week, I will show you how many grams of added sugar it takes to fill some of the most popular measuring spoons in my kitchen. Ultra-Processed Foods/Beverages: Tastes Like Heaven But Kills Like Hell!They say 'We are what we eat' but what does it really mean and what its implication to our health and longevity?Yes, we do have to eat in order to live but we don't live just to eat but be rather conscious and minds us...be very concerning about what we put into our mouth and process/absorb by our bodily organs but for WHAT? Well, isn't - to live healthy and live happily? - as long as we can with the love and grace of our Divine Creator, whoever and whatever one believes it to be according to one's faith, no faith, and/or orientation?Hey, come to think of it, there's so much here on and in our planet that we've discovered and worked on to keep living and be living adventurously and at best, #meaningfullyANDfulfillingly! but HOW do we really do that?Is there a magic formula to live a utopic life, that is, truly #meaningfulANDfulfilling?🤔True, just like our endless search for that "Fountain of youth", our journey for a better life keeps us busy progressing towards a direction we are not quite sure about if it would be heaven or hell in the end, if there's any but more often than not, for the #WRONGREASONS! as only a few, well-vested interests of our kind, who are in the position of power and wealth, are running the show of - governments and businesses - that is impactful and determinative of what the future holds for humanity and to our Dear Planet Earth, not to mention, our ever foray on space exploration for possible second home and possibility of interacting and who knows, socializing with hopefully, similar-like-us creatures or even science-fiction aliens imaginable out there, right?But without going farther and be lost in transition, what we eat matters a lot where our now modernized, industrialized, and highly commercialized world seems to have forgotten - BIG TIME! to give us with the #BESTINTEREST of humanity and planet in mind, most of, if not, all the time...rather than their damn self-serving interest of getting filthy rich and powerful! Not so bad, right?!...ohhh, are we jokingly serious here???But hey, good thing though, we have still a good number of people and institutions in and from various sectors that are working hard, doing their best to make it their crusade to fight for a better future that is people-and nature-positive, e.g., World Economic Forum(WEF) and their partners, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, who, judging by their published works and ongoing projects and research are making good strides and inroads toward this end, albeit, still lot of works to be done ahead! Hope so!With the real and terrifying existential threat of #ClimateChange via the unsustainable malpractices of businesses and misgovernance of our governments, suffice to say, it exposed the dire and urgent need to #ACTNOW! b4 this gruesome tipping point scenario becomes irreversable! but still not late getting healthy, right? If not, what better choices do we have?🤔
