This one got bloody early. The left eye of Beltran was busted open and so was a cut on Sanchez’s head over his left ear.

Despite putting their cutmen to work, Beltran and Sanchez went toe-to-toe in a thriller over eight rounds. Both fighters had big moments that got big crowd reactions. The pair brawled in the closing seconds and received the first standing ovation of the night for their efforts.

Sanchez was declared the winner by unanimous decision with scores of 77-75, 78-74, and 79-73.

Chris Avila vs. Jeremy Stephens

Stephens put the pressure on Avila from the start, working behind a snappy left hand jab. Avila circled on the outside and looked for counters, mixing in some shots to the body. The first was a close round as both fighters began settling in.

The forward pressure from Stephens continued in the second, but Avila got busier with his hands, landing nicely and forcing “Lil’ Heathen” to keep his hands up. Late in round 2, Avila put together a few sharp combinations to stage Stephens.

Punches became more labored from both fighters in Round 3, which caused a few intermittent boos to come down from the Dallas crowd. Avila began marching forward late in the round, landing some nice shots.

In Round 4, Stephens got back to the pressure, but Avila continued to hold his ground and fire back. A few clean punches from Avila found the mark to get a reaction from the crowd. With less than 30 seconds to go, Avila began pouring it on while mixing in some taunts as Stephens covered up.

The fifth round was close, until the final minute, when Avila’s volume began to give Stephens some trouble.

With one round to go, Stephens did his best to bring the action, but Avila continued to counter and pepper with clean punches. Stephens looked for the home run shot a couple of times, but couldn’t connect.

The judges all had it for Avila with scores of 59-55, 59-55 and 60-54.

Amanda Serrano vs. Heather Hardy

The first round was a one-sided smashing from Serrano, as she rocked Hardy on more than one occasion. Both fighters returned to their stools for Round 2, but only one was bruised and swollen.

The story was largely the same in the second and third frames, but Hardy was able to adjust and land a few more punches than in the opening round.

The pair shared a few heated exchanges in the fourth round, as Hardy proved she wasn’t going to be an easy out for Serrano. However, the biggest punches of the round came from the champion.

In the fifth, Hardy was on the receiving end of more big shots, but showed her toughness by taking them on the chin and moving forward.

Hardy’s mouthpiece was knocked out in the sixth which caused the fight to be paused for a moment, but when it resumed, Serrano marched her down behind a right jab.

The referee paused the fight in the ninth to check on Hardy, who wasn’t having it. The crowd erupted at her displeasure of the official’s concern.

The final round began with both fighters standing in the middle and trading as everyone in the building rose to their feet. Serrano got the better of the exchanges, and the fight came to end with everyone cheering as they embraced in the middle of the ring.

The result was a clear one-sided unanimous decision for Serrano.

Down goes Diaz!

Paul adjusted between rounds and began picking his shots better after a close fourth round. Paul circled well and searched for an opening, and found what he wanted.

Paul caught Diaz with a clean left to send him to the canvas. Diaz beat the count, but when the fight resumed, Paul brought the storm. Diaz survived the danger, and began firing back in the closing seconds.
